"I know that I frowned and hated on it a lot while I was there, but the weekly level work was very helpful. I was able to make goals and actually complete them. People would sit down with me and walk me through how to do this. This is something that I didn’t have before Hawthorn and I have carried with me after. Moral Reconation Therapy was helpful for me to learn how to be more respectful and stuff. I have become a lot more respectful. Before I came to Hawthorn I would tend to have very impulsive actions and not even try to think about things first. After going to Hawthorn I have started thinking before I do stuff. It was about a month or two ago that my cousin wanted me to sneak out with him. I was thinking about it and thought about how I would get in trouble with my granny and I decided to stay home. Ya’ll are doing things right with how you approach things. Ya’ll really helped me.”

“The staff! She was able to bond with the staff and they really made a difference in her life. Thank you all so much!”

"I think the biggest way that Hawthorn helped me was how they helped me start opening up. Like talking about my feelings and showing my emotions and not having to hold it all in. I was able to actually connect with the staff. After leaving Hawthorn I was able to express my emotions better. I was also able to use the coping skills that I was taught how to use at Hawthorn. I loved Moral Reconation Therapy and found that step 11 was specifically helpful for me. One memory I will never forget at Hawthorn was the day I caught my first fish!"

“You guys made me feel at home. You made me feel important. Keep up the good work and continue to help kids in trouble, or kids that just need food on the table and a roof over their head.”

“I really appreciate the Hawthorn staff. Ever since I left, things have been different for me. I’m learning to be more mature, and I’ve been more open to the world… I’m now able to talk to other people when I have a problem.”

  • Grandparent

“There will never be enough thank yous to say how much we appreciate what you did for our grandson. It was one of the most upsetting and heaviest times in his life, and all of you went above and beyond to help him through it.”
